Alberto Del Río Azuara


Languages: English, Spanish and Italian.


He obtained his law degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho (Mexico City). He has a diploma in Human Rights from Universidad Iberoamericana; he studied his specialty at Universidad Anáhuac (Mexico City) where he obtained his LL.M. degree in Penal Sciences, coursing graduate studies related to the Criminal Justice Adversarial System in the same university.

He worked as Chief of Staff of the Attorney General of the Federal District and the Federal Attorney General between 1988 and 1991, acting later as assistant in the crime victims and prevention department. He has been dedicated to the private practice of law from 1998, acting as criminal law partner at Luengo Creel from 2000 to 2009, year in which he founded his own firm, Del Río y Moreno de Leija Abogados. He has been appointed by Mexico as legal expert for the Multilateral Evaluation Mechanism of the Organization of American States – OAS (within the Inter-American Committee for Drug Abuse Control – CICAD) acting under an honorary charge from 2003 to 2009, presiding the Government Legal Experts Group of the continent from 2007 to 2009. He has taught criminal law at the Escuela Libre de Derecho (Mexico City).

Through a prestigious institution of private assistance in Mexico, Alberto promotes the integration of benefactors to scholarship programs for Law students.
